Unfunded mandates everywhere

Here’s a new blog for consideration. I came upon it by following links to this page backward to a list on Delicious. The list looks worth exploring, especially for French teachers.

I was especially interested in the comments about the new edict in the UK that students will now start studying languages from age seven. Having hailed that idea, I now have some concept of the other side of the argument: unfunded mandates the world over are not necessarily progress.

If you don’t read French (as I don’t), the blog has some tantalizing blank space that isn’t completely cleared up with google translate.
