I am a little behind the eightball on the Parent Night thing, but for the first year classes, we started with the Cat story today. I had them break into pairs to act it out, then had them be “parents” and “children,” practicing how to teach the vocabulary. Doing a demo “teaching my parent” (the kid who didn’t have a partner), I got a whole bunch more reps in, and then they got to practice. This was a good wake-up call for me. There are some very quick minds in that class, but not everyone was getting things so fast. I realized that extra reps are always beneficial, and that the kids still need me to go slower than I think I do.
